Hmmm. I don't want to come across all psycho keen, seeing as I just commented on your awesome FLA shots, but these too are brilliant!

I have one of those sigmas as well, I learned to shoot gig photos on it and really love the wide angle it gives, plus the zoom, in well-lite shows it was always a nifty go-between the primes and telescopics. however since picking up a Nikkor prime (1.4) I can't bear to use the old 2.8 because the grain is dreadful if you're on 1600 ISO in a small venue like the Boom Boom Room. That's why I was so shocked to see such great quality in these shots!

Yeah it's the Sigma 24-70 f/2.8, think the nice bright lighting of a big venue helps.

Had a hard time deciding which lens I'd use (3 songs, so little chance to swap) but he was moving around the stage so much I wanted a zoom rather than a prime so i could follow him without moving around too much.

There was a slight incident involving Fight Like Apes in UCD that resulted in possible breaking of the lens, but I'm not sure. As far as I can tell, it's just manual focusing is broken and auto is OK, so I think I can get away with using it for another while.

Bloody brilliant quality for 2.8!! Don't tell me it's the wide-angle Sigma (I noticed you use one)?

Thanks Nay

These were all taken at f/2.8.
You're right about rappers being photogenic, and it helps when there's no mic stands or other band members in the way.

Hey, these are great shots! The focus is quite sharp, was your lens a high f-stop? I love rappers' originality for pics, some come out so photogenic!
